Te Tūhunga is an exhibit proposal that helps position Te Papa Tongarewa—the Museum of New Zealand—as a destination where young adults are inspired to learn about Aotearoa as part of Te Papa’s strategic goals.
The brief was to design an interactive experience for Te Papa Tongarewa (Te Papa), that responds to the needs and interests of young adult visitors (18–28).
I identified Te Taiao exhibition zone in Te Papa as already having immersive exhibits. However, there lay an opportunity to tailor an exhibit to this demographic and psychographic of young adults who had visited Te Papa but were not motivated to return. This was suggested by primary research with 18-28 year olds who expressed feeling that the tone of Te Taiao was targeted towards children, though the learnings were valuable.
